Mr. Paul M. Mancini, Sr. is a native of and was schooled in Bristol, RI. He and his family moved to Cranston in 1963 after graduating from the University of Rhode Island, He received a Master's Degree from Rhode Island College. Mr. Mancini is presently retired as Director of Choral Activities in the Cranston Public Schools and the Diocese of Fall River. He is presently organist and music minister of the Orchard Church. He is past President of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Choral Director's Association. Mr. Mancini lives with his wife, Joann, in Cranston RI. They have two children and nine grandchildren.
During his forty-year tenure in public and private schools, he has conducted the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra, the West Bay Ecumenical Choir, the American Baptist Festival Choirs, The Southern Methodist Festival Choirs, and the Rhode Island Independent School Festival Choir. He has also conducted the New Hampshire and Rhode Island All-State Choirs and has adjudicated festivals and competitions throughout New England.
He has served on the executive boards of various arts and professional councils and organizations and his award-winning choirs have appeared at Divisional Conferences of the Nations Music Educator's and the National Association of Secondary School Superintendents and Principals along with staff and members of the Rhode Island School for the Deaf. Mr. Mancini was conductor of the Rhode Island Music Educator's Summer Music Camp Chorus for five years. He has conducted various choirs on tours of the Soviet Union, Australia, and Europe on eight separate occasions. He is founder and music director of the Choral Company of Cranston, an adult community-based chorus that has sung throughout southern New England, including Carnegie Hall with Michael Nuss.
Mr. Mancini and Mr. Nuss are responsible for organizing and founding the Ocean State Children's Choir. They have visited many Rhode Island schools and communitites and have seen almost four thousand children over the past five years. The Ocean State Children's Choir has become a permanent fixture on Rhode Island's artistic landscape and it is with great pride that the Choral Company sponsors and presents these two conductors. |
